FCA: title on the rise after the green agreement with Tesla

On a lackluster day for the Ftse Mib, he stands out the performance of Fiat Chrysler, at the top of the list with an increase of 1,5% to 13,93 euros thanks to the“green” agreement with Tesla disclosed by Financial Times. An agreement that will allow FCA to avoid very heavy penalties on polluting emissions and be on the safe side, at least for a while.

According to the FT, the Italian-American group will pay "hundreds of millions of euros" to Tesla for calculate Elon Musk's electric vehicles in its fleet and thus comply with the EU parameters in terms of CO2 emissions set for 2020.

Going into detail, the European Union has set for next year a ceiling of 95 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer from the 130 grams per kilometer set in 2015. Thanks to the agreement with Tesla, FCA will essentially be able to offset the emissions (plus high) of carbon dioxide from its cars thanks to those of the electric manufacturer, lowering its average figure below the permitted level.

The agreement is also reported on the website of the European Commission, where we read that the so-called "pool" between the two groups concerns FCA Italy, FCA Us, Alfa Romeo and, precisely, Tesla and bears the date of February 25, 2019.

At this juncture, FCA specified that: “We are committed to reducing emissions of all our vehicles”, “by optimizing the compliance options that the regulations offer”.

“The sense of a CO2 credit market - continues the company - is to exploit the most convenient ways to reduce the overall emissions of greenhouse gases on the market. The purchasing pool provides flexibility to deliver products that our customers are willing to purchase while managing compliance with the lowest cost approach.”
