stellantis, the new automotive giant resulting from the marriage between fca e A dogwill officially be born The 4 January. The two companies have convened the shareholders' meetings to give the green light to the merger. It is the last act of the operation: for some time now, Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot have reached an agreement on the name, logo and above all the composition of the future board of directors (the president will be John Elkann, the managing director Carlos Tavares) .

The green light from the EU Antitrust is still missing, but – according to rumors – the approval will come soon, perhaps even before the meetings at the beginning of the year. Should it arrive later, however, it will be taken into account in the January votes.

The merger will be even and will give birth to the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world, with 8,7 million cars sold in 2018, over 400 thousand employees and more than 180 billion in turnover. Numbers that will bring Stellantis closer to four-wheel giants such as Volkswagen, Toyota, General Motors and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

Meanwhile, the second wave of the pandemic is making itself felt European car market, which – according to data from Acea, the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers – closed the month of October with a drop in registrations of 7,1%, after the rebound (+1,1%) recorded in September.

Bending, however, does not involve fca, which in Europe saw sales increase by 3,2%, with the market share rising from 5,6% to 6,2%. The boost from public incentives proved to be decisive, which last month, in Italy, had not exhausted itself. As for the models, FCA speaks of "excellent performance" for Panda e 500 – at the head of segment A, the one most damaged by the pandemic – but the volumes of the Jeep Compass and Renegade 4×4 plug-in hybrids, a few months after its launch. The other brands, except Renault, closed with negative changes. The individual countries are in the red, even if Italy (-0,2%) contained the losses.
