"I want to express all my gratitude to FCA for the investments in Italy, we are proud of it, it is a sector that is driving the economy in this country". The prime minister said, Matteo Renzi, on the occasion of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi with John Elkann and Sergio Marchionne, president and CEO of FCA.

The visit of the top management of the Lingotto was the occasion for the presentation of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia, previously also exhibited at the Quirinale in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. The new Giulia, Renzi said, "is a great message of hope for the country, a message of restart and Italian style: the success of the Giulia will be a nice message for Italians. “The production plan – explains an FCA press release released on the occasion of the event – ​​is having results also from an occupational point of view: with regard to the development and production of the new Alfa Romeos, in addition to the approximately 700 new hires already made, there will be a significant reduction in the Redundancy Fund in the various production centers involved". 

During the meeting, the closure of the historic plant was also discussed Maserati of Modena: in 2017, after 80 years, the definitive was announced stop to productionalready drastically reduced in recent years. Only the research and development area will remain in Modena, which could cost around 120 redundancies which, however, would have to be relocated between Ferrari and other Maserati offices. “Marchionne – guaranteed Renzi – spoke to the president with the president of Emilia Romagna Bonaccini regarding the Modena plant, which will continue to work without losing jobs, indeed with a few more places”. 

Still with regard to Maserati, a few weeks ago the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Marchionne also announced "an improvement in the second half of the year, following the launch of the new Levant".
