FCA: Mirafiori and Grugliasco, no shock absorbers

Thanks to investments in electrification, the group interrupts solidarity in the Turin pole, which thus returns to full employment

FCA: Mirafiori and Grugliasco, no shock absorbers

Fiat Chrysler stop using the social shock absorbers and go back to full employment in the production center of Turin, which includes the factories of mirafiori e Grugliasco. Investments in electrification made this decision possible.

At the end of September, FCA will stop using the solidarity contract in the two plants, thus bringing all employees of the hub back to work.

The company has also announced the recruitment of 20 specialist apprentices, who will join the 50 being placed.

All these initiatives are linked to the launch of new ones fully electric models (500 and Ducato) and Ghibli Hybrid from Maserati.

During a question time in the Chamber, the Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli, he underlined that “from the end of September” the Turin production hub “will no longer make use of social safety nets, but there will be full employment, because orders for the full electric 500 are going well. It is good news".

Meanwhile, the work for the production of surgical masks also continues in Mirafiori, an activity for which the use of the plants for three work shifts a day is intended.

On the corporate side, FCA announced that - in view of the merger - PSA has repurchased 10 million Peugeot ordinary shares from Dongfeng Motor Group, equal to approximately 1,10% of the company's capital. The shares will be canceled after settlement of the transaction (which will take place on 25 September).

"We are closely following the evolution of the merger between FCA and PSA - added Patuanelli - We have not yet reached the concern, because we have signs that show us that the FCA plan in Italy, thanks also to the guarantee requested and the additional commitments requested at the group, is giving the first results”. Otherwise, the Minister of Economic Development said again, "the communication that the Mirafiori and Grugliasco plants will conclude the social safety nets" would not have been possible, returning to full employment.
