Fca, Fim Cisl: agreement on timetables, smart working and social security

According to the national secretary of Fim-Cisl, Uliano, "positive responses on working hours, smart working, solidarity holidays and supplementary pensions" have come from the automotive group - "On other aspects there are distances to overcome" - FCA recalls 1,6 million vehicles due to airbag defects.

“With these two days of negotiation we are starting to collect the first positive responses, in particular on working hours, smart working, solidarity holidays and supplementary pensions”. This was stated by Ferdinando Uliano, national secretary of the Fim Cisl, regarding the ongoing negotiations with FCA.

"On some issues related to the reconciliation of life and work, there are positive aspects - he added - such as for example the increase in permits with recovery, the fractioned use of paid permits per hour, the possibility of increasing entry flexibility . In the realities of FCA, Cnhi and Ferrari there will be the possibility of using smart working and solidarity holidays in the future ".

According to the trade unionist, “after the agreement made in December on the possibility of allocating part of the bonus system to welfare, the company has already agreed to increase the contribution to the benefit of workers on supplementary pensions. We hope that there will also be positive availability on the other topics on which the company has reserved the right to present more detailed texts and proposals (such as training and the right to study, professional classification, supplementary health care and more).

Finally, "on other aspects we have found gaps that we hope to overcome in the next meetings on 24 and 25 January, where we should also discuss issues related to salary", concluded Uliano.

On a general level, another important piece of news concerning FCA Us, the US division of the Fiat Chrysler Automobile group, should be noted. The company is recalling over 1,6 million cars worldwide to replace the potentially defective airbags on the passenger side and produced by the former Takata (Japanese company which went bankrupt in June 2017 after the maxi scandal in the USA led to the highest number of recalls ever).

The initiative, FCA added in a note, represents "the fourth and final phase of the process coordinated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (the agency part of the US Department of Transportation in charge of safety on US roads, ed.) and designed to identify the defective airbags of the former Takata”, acquired by the former Key Safety Systems (a US manufacturing company controlled by the Chinese Ningbo Joyson Electronic).

FCA estimates that of the total recalled vehicles, 1,4 million are in the US, 88.830 in Canada, 12.821 in Mexico and 118.084 outside the NAFTA region.

The models affected by the recall are:

  • 3500 Ram 4500 and Ram 5500/2010 pickups;
  • 2010-2011 Dodge Dakota pickups;
  • the 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger sport coupe;
  • the 2011-2015 Dodge Charger sedan,
  • the 300-2010 Chrysler 2015 sedan,
  • the 2010-2016 Jeep Wrangler-branded SUV.
