FCA: “Regular emissions on diesel cars. Best January since 2007 in the USA”

The group will voluntarily update its Euro 6 calibrations to reduce emissions in real driving conditions – Meanwhile, the subsidiary FCA Us recorded a 7% increase in registrations, against the +3,8% expected by analysts.

Cars Diesel di Fiat Chrysler comply with the regulations emissions. The FCA group specifies this in a note, explaining that it has "conducted an in-depth internal examination of the application of this technology to its vehicles".

In any case FCA, "as a voluntary measure - continues the company -, not imposed or requested by any authority, will update its Euro 6 calibrations with new data sets to improve performance in terms of emissions in real driving conditions. These new calibrations will be ready from April 2016, will be available on all new vehicles sold after that date and will be made available to all other owners of FCA Euro 6 vehicles free of charge". 

In addition, FCA "intends to accelerate ongoing programs to extend the application of Active Selective Catalytic Reduction (or SCR) technology, already used in some FCA vehicles, in order to make it available on additional diesel engine families starting from the second quarter of 2017, well ahead of what is required by any applicable legal requirement".

As for sales, after the positive numbers recorded on the Italian market, FCA announces that it has just closed the best January since 2007 in the US. In detail, the subsidiary FCA US recorded an increase in registrations of 7%, to 155.037 units, from 145.007 in the same period last year, marking the 70th consecutive month of sales increases. The January results clearly exceeded the expectations of analysts, who were expecting a 3,8% increase in sales.

Nine models of the group, of which three of the Jeep brand (Cherokee, Patriot and Compass) have recorded sales records. As for brands, Chrysler's registrations dropped by 22% (from 23.393 to 18.214), Dodge's rose by 19%, the best January in three years (from 35.347 to 42.109), Jeep's rose by 15%. , the best January ever and the 28th consecutive monthly increase (from 51.523 to 59.032) and those of Ram rose by 5%, the best January since 2004 (from 31.392 to 33.021).

In addition, 2.594 Fiats were sold last month, 20% less than the 3.255 of the same period last year. Overall, FCA US car sales fell 24% to 30.157 units, while truck sales grew 19% to 124.880.

Early afternoon the stock on the FCA stock exchange recovers from the declines of the morning, gaining 0,6%, to 6,44 euros per share.
