Fca, diesel: solution soon

According to Fiat Chrysler it is possible to modify the software as requested by the US authorities "within weeks" - The Justice Department confirms that a solution is possible, but does not agree on the timing.

FCA's lawyers have assured the federal judge in San Francisco that they will be able to make the changes requested by the US authorities for environmental protection "within weeks". The Bloomberg agency writes it, according to which the manufacturer's lawyers, consumers and representatives of the American government have been heard in relation to the dispute relating to the alleged manipulations on the diesel emissions of FCA pickups and SUVs.

The US Justice Department lawyer admitted that there could be a solution, but he disagrees with the builder's expected timeline.

Meanwhile Robert Giuffra, Fiat Chrysler's lawyer but also Volkswagen's representative on the case of the rigged emissions, said during the court hearing that the case of the manipulated emissions of 104 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs and Ram-branded pickups with FCA diesel engines cannot be compared to Dieselgate which sees the German group under accusation.

Giuffra explained that, unlike what happened at the beginning of the dispute involving Volkswagen, FCA has already proposed a software modification with which it can resolve any issue relating to the engine without penalizing the performance or value of the car.
