Fake US bonds, seized 6 trillion dollars

At the request of the magistracy of Potenza they were 6 trillion dollars worth of fake US government bonds seized in Switzerland. Prosecutors have issued requests for custody against eight people. Three of them are in prison, three under house arrest and two are currently wanted. Prosecutors Francesco Basentini and Laura Triassi lead the investigation.

It all started with the investigations by the Carabinieri del Ros on an alleged mafia association active in the Vulture-Melfese area, in the province of Potenza, which would have operated also in the wear sector. The investigators thus discovered the bonds deposited in three boxes kept by a Swiss trust company.

A year ago, the prosecutors sent a rogatory letter to the Swiss judicial authority asking for the seizure of the cash and securities. Investigations revealed that the fake bonds, apparently issued in 1934 by the Federal Reserve, were likely intended to mega international scams.
