Failures: Italy returns to pre-Covid levels

In the first half of 2021, the Italian bankruptcy courts they're back grinding the same number of files as the gods pre-Covid levels, registering an increase of more than 60% compared to the January-June 2020 period (from 3.037 to 4.877). This is what emerges from "Cherry Sea", the bankruptcy justice observatory of Cherry srl, a company that provides artificial intelligence services to credit operators. The analysis was carried out through the portals of the Ministry of Justice.

The data relating to bankruptcies in the first half of 2021 is "slightly lower than that of the same period of 2019 (-13%) - reads the study - which testifies how this year the bankruptcy courts have resumed their full activity regime, after twelve months conditioned by the lockdowns".

Same trend for i resolved bankruptcy proceedings: in the first half of 2021 there were 7.751, in line with 2019 (7.753), while last year at the end of June the procedures completed had been 5.454.

As for pending practices, decreased by 4% compared to the figure at the end of 2020. In the top twenty Italian courts by number of pending cases (out of 140), in which around 50% of the entire national stock is concentrated, between January and June there was a general decrease in procedures. The only exception is Rome, the court with the largest stock in Italy (5.035 firm cases), where the load has even increased by almost 3%.

On the other side of the ranking is the court of Modena, which in six months has reduced its stock by over 9%, to 691 pending cases. Genoa follows with 702 (-3% compared to the end of 2020) and Busto Arsizio completes the podium (779), which reduced the number of bankruptcies by 7%

The court of Rome is also the one that has historically had the least impact on its backlog: from 2014 to today, in fact, the number of pending procedures is practically the same, with a variation of just 0,1%. The same boccia ranking is Cagliari (-1% pending in the last seven years) and Busto Arsizio (-4%), while the greatest progress in the same period was made by Turin (-50%, from 2.587 to 1.299 firm applications), Bergamo (-35%) and Vicenza (-34%).
