Falck Renewables, loss of 85 million due to the Sicily dossier

The dispute with the Sicily region over the tenders for the award of the works for the waste-to-energy plants led Falck Renewables to enter write-downs of around 100 million euro in the financial statements and to reverse the result for the year 2012 from a net profit of 26,6 million to a loss net of 85,5 million.

Falck Renewables, loss of 85 million due to the Sicily dossier

The dispute with the Sicily region on tenders for the award of works for the waste-to-energy plants, which dates back to the previous operational management, led Falck Renewables to enter write-downs of approximately 100 million euros in the financial statements and to reverse the result for 2012 from a net profit of 26,6 million to a net loss of 85,5 million.

The Sicilian affair, which dates back to 2002, has therefore been dragging on for over a decade, since the same ones were declared deserted and all subsequent acts and measures adopted in execution of the called procedures were cancelled.

Precisely because of the civil dispute with Sicily, on 12 March the Board of Directors of Falck Renewables decided to postpone the approval of the 21-5 business plan to May (2013/2017), which therefore assumes vital importance for the energy company. The group's 2017 estimates project the ebitda at 225 million euros and the net financial position between 640 and 660 million euros.
