Falck and Eni buy solar project in Virginia

The two companies, through Novis Renewables Holdings (51 and 49% owned), have invested $35 million for a 30 MW plant in Westmoreland County.

Novis Renewables Holdings, the company 51% owned by Falck Renewables North America and 49% by Eni New Energy US, has completed the acquisition, from Savion, of Westmoreland “ready to build” solar project of 30 MW, located in Westmoreland County, Virginia (US).

Il total investment value it is about 35 million dollars. The signing of the agreement was announced on November 17th. Novis manages 113 MW of solar energy and a 6,6 MWhr battery system in the United States: in this new project it will supply panels safe harbour, will finalize the financing and manage the construction. Once operational, the plant will supply clean solar energy to one utility regional for the needs of end consumers and industries for the next decades, avoiding over 33.000 tons of CO2 per year. The entry into operation of the plant is expected in the third quarter of 2021.

“Our growth in the US market continues – he commented a week ago, announcing the operation which was then closed – Toni Volpe, Chief Executive Officer of Falck Renewables – with a diversified portfolio of renewable assets. Novis will focus on the construction, financing and optimal management of the asset. This new project will further expand our portfolio of US operating assets in 2021 and represents a further step towards achieving our sustainable growth goals.”

Novis Renewables Holdings is fully consolidated by Falck Renewables, whose group as a whole builds and manages energy production plants from renewable energy sources with a installed capacity of 1.133 MW (1.096,3 MW according to the IFRS 11 reclassification) in the United Kingdom, Italy, United States, Spain, France, Norway and Sweden, generated by wind, solar, WtE and biomass sources. 

Following the announcement, Falck Renewables rose on the Stock Exchange (where it is listed in the STAR segment) by 1,7% at 5,3 euros per share. Eni also gains over 3% by mid-morning, a 8,594 euros per share.
