Read two books a month. This is the challenge that the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg launched to all users from his personal profile. It all started with a post published on December 31 in which he asked his followers (31 million Facebook users) for new ideas for his personal new year challenge. To help the 31 million people who follow his updates, the number 1 of Facebook illustrated some of his past challenges such as learning to speak Mandarin Chinese or getting to know a person who doesn't work at Facebook every day. 57 responded to his call for help. Lots of proposals reached Zuckerberg's bulletin board: from having a conversation every day with a person of a different nationality, to reading the Bible up to the almost impossible proposal to plant a tree for every Facebook user.
After three days the king of Facebook opted for the reading. In a long post dated January 3rd Zuckerberg thanks his followers for the thousands of proposals received within a few hours and explains that his personal challenge for 2015 will be to read a book every two weeks. In this regard, Zuckerberg also announces the opening of a fan page called 'A Year of Books' in which to gradually discuss the books that will be selected every two weeks.
The first book from which Zuckerberg's personal challenge begins is "The End of Power". The author of this 400 page volume is the Venezuelan political scientist Moses Naim. A book, that of Naim, which tells how the nature of power has changed in recent times. Obviously, one of the main protagonists of this change can only be cyberspace. The post dedicated to Moses Naim's book has already been opened on the 'A Year of Books' page and there are almost 500 comments after just over two days. A figure destined to grow such as that relating to the number of 'I like' of the page which reaches 125 fans and which travels by an average of over 2 more fans every hour.
