Circa 200 thousand jobs e $12 to $15 billion in benefits to the US economybetween salaries and more. Is it Barack Obama's new maneuver? No sir, it's simply Facebook and, to be more precise, "the application economy" which revolves around the progenitor of social networks.

At least according to research conducted byUniversity of Maryland: "Our studies confirm that social network platforms have created a real new economy, in full growth and with significant repercussions, obviously positive, on the American economy".

The most optimistic estimates fix a 235.644 the total number of jobs created from this so-called "application economy", of which at least 53 thousand directly from the publishers of the programs used by the Facebook platform, with a turnover that is estimated between 12,19 and 15,71 billion dollars, between wages and other positive effects on the economic system.

Currently, approx 20 million applications are installed every day by nearly a billion users of the most famous social network.

For example the publisher Zynga, which makes games like Farmille, Texas Poker, Mafia Wars, alone has more than 2 employees for a total value of between 15 and 20 billion dollars.
