Facebook: advertising videos land on the diary from July

Many users may turn up their noses, but, according to the Financial Times, starting in July advertising videos will land on the Facebook diary. The social network led by Mark Zuckerberg would like to monetize its immense popularity by entering a market, that of advertising sales linked to online videos, which is growing by 41% this year, with a turnover estimated at around 4,1 billion dollars. The goal of Zuckerberg and associates is also to recoup the huge losses associated with the listing on the Stock Exchange.

The ad videos will appear in your News Feed and start automatically, but without the audio, which can only be activated by the user. Facebook has already contacted some of its major advertising partners: Unilever, Nestle, Ford and Coca Cola, among others, are expected to participate in the initial trials of the new platform.

Concerns, of course, are aimed at user perception. An advertising presence too intrusive could result in a deterioration of their experience and a consequent disaffection, with repercussions on the activity on the site.

But it's a risk that Facebook seems willing to take: according to the company's first calculations, the new advertising content could generate earnings of up to $1,5 million a day.
