Facebook like Google: 500 hires in London

In the wake of Google, Mark Zuckerberg's social network also announces the opening of a new office in London by 2017. 500 people will be hired, including developers, project managers and sales staff.

Despite fears related to the potential negative effects of Brexit, London is confirmed as the European capital of high-tech. Facebook indeed announced in the morning of Monday 21 November of want to hire 500 new employees, which will be added to the 1000 workers already present in the area.
By 2017, recruitment will be accompanied byopening of the new headquarters, already under construction, in the central district of fitzrovia

The new headquarters will be the second largest in Europe in terms of size, after the one in Dublin, but the first outside the US by concentration of developers.

The announcement follows by a few days that of Google, another giant in the high-tech sector, which in turn has decided to open a new, larger office in the English capital. The two investments appear to belie the concerns for which, following the victory of the "leave", the big technology companies would have suspended their plans in the UK.

Words of satisfaction come from London mayor Sadiq Khan, for which Facebook's decision represents “further evidence that the London's strength as a technology hub continues to expand”
