Facebook giant of the Internet? Not at all, it's out of the top ten!

It's okay that it's the most used social network in the world, it's okay that its entry on the Stock Exchange caused a lot of talk, it's okay that its creator, Mark Zuckerberg, is the icon of the genius who becomes one of the richest men of America, but Facebook, in terms of turnover, is an absolutely "normal" company.

Indeed, in the ranking drawn up by PaidContent on the turnover of companies in the internet and media category, which shows a total global turnover of 150 billion dollars, the social network to which we are (almost) all members is not even among the top ten. Its capital has tripled since joining Wall Street (April 2012), overtaking with 3,7 billion dollars sacred monsters of the "sale of content on the Internet" such as NewsCorp, Amazon and Walt Disney, thanks above all to advertising (82%), but the top is quite another thing.

The number one is positioned on the unreachable peaks of Mountain View, with the 36,4 billion budgeted by Google. Then, to go down the ranking, the fifth place of Apple (5,4 billion), the sixth of Yahoo with 5 billion, Thomson Reuters with 4,7 and to close the top ten Microsoft with 3,9. So far, the defeat in front of these names would also be dignified, if it weren't for the ranking (where there isn't even an Italian woman in the first 50 places) there are also some surprises: in second place is the Chinese China Mobile, almost unknown to most, which even surpasses Bloomberg with 7,59 billion in turnover.

It also comes from Beijing Tencent, which with its diversified content (social networks, games, etc) ranks ninth with $4,5 billion. And if you think that only 40% of the 1,3 billion Chinese use the internet today, we can swear that this trend, pace Zuckerberg, is destined to increase.
