F35: the European superjet maintenance center in Italy

The center for the maintenance of the F35 in Europe will be in Italy, and more precisely in Cameri (in the province of Novara). The announcement was made during a joint press conference by the Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti, and the US ambassador to our country, John Phillips. The factory Faco (Final Assembly and Check Out) of Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica company, it will be a point of reference both for F35s purchased by Europeans and for US ones stationed in Europe.

It is an "extraordinary result" which, as Pinotti points out, "means work, technology and positive effects for related industries". A breath of fresh air for an industry embarrassed by the government's decision to suspend Italian orders. The superjets (there are only two thousand ordered by the US) can be used for at least 30 years, and each of the aircraft will need 3 months of maintenance every five years.

Satisfied the CEO of Finmeccanica, Mauro Moretti: "The recognition of the Cameri site as the only facility in Europe for the high-tech logistics and maintenance activities of the F35s represents further confirmation of Finmeccanica's levels of excellence in the aeronautical field ”.
