F2i SGR, the company that manages the largest Italian infrastructure fund, signed an agreement with Enel Produzione and Enel Green Power on behalf of the second managed fund for the purchase of the entire portfolio of plant biomass plants.

The operation involves the purchase of two plants for the production of electricity from plant biomass with a total power of 47 megawatts in Calabria and Emilia-Romagna. Added to these are two further plants still under construction and which are expected to be completed by the end of the year in Emilia and Sardinia, for a total of 48 megawatts, and the development project for a fifth plant in Lombardy, with a power of 12 megawatts.

Previously, F2i had already signed a series of agreements with local administrations and with Coldiretti to guarantee the availability of cuttings from agricultural processing, the cleaning of river beds and woodland.

"The challenge that we have accepted with this acquisition" - stated the CEO of F2i, Renato Ravanelli - "consists in transforming electricity production centers into service centers for the agricultural system and for those territorial bodies which bear the responsibility of fighting the degradation of the forest and river territory. F2i thus confirms its mission as a private investment fund capable of combining long-term value creation objectives with industrial proposals having positive effects on the national economic system".

The agreement is part of F2i's strategy in the sector of renewable energy from plant biomass, launched in 2017 with the acquisition of San Marco Bioenergie Spa, a company that manages an electricity production plant in Bando d'Argenta, in Ferrara. electrical power of 21 MW.
