F1, Monza Grand Prix: a brand worth 3,8 billion

According to the Research Department of the Chamber of Commerce of Monza and Brianza, the race that will take place on Sunday will bring 28,5 million direct tourism in just one week - 9,2 million sports tourists will go shopping while they are arriving for the catering sector 7,6 million euros.

A golden Grand Prix, that of Monza. The Italian stage of Formula One, a race that will take place on Sunday, can boast a brand with a total value of 3,8 billion euros. The estimate is from the Research Office of the Chamber of Commerce of Monza and Brianza, which calculates a direct tourism induced of 28,5 million in just one week for its reference area. Only the hotel and non-hotel accommodation system will benefit from 9,3 million.

According to calculations based on data collected by the Business Register, Istat, Censis, Isnart and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, sports tourists will go shopping for 9,2 million, while 7,6 million euros are arriving for the catering sector. And as far as mobility is concerned, between transport and parking, the related activities amount to around 2,1 million euros.

On the other hand, the GP is a deal not only for Monza and Brianza, but also for the entire surrounding area: the 2014 edition brings more than 14,5 million euros into the coffers of hoteliers, restaurateurs and traders from the Brianza area, but generates tourism induced also in the Milan area for over 8,6 million euros, in the lake and holiday resorts of Como and Lecco with tourism induced respectively of 3 million and around 900 thousand euros.
