F1, Monza Grand Prix – Ferrari launches the challenge to Mercedes

Ferrari surprising on the weekend of Monza at the home grand prix. The single-seaters of Hag e Raikkonen they demonstrated both in free practice and in qualifying that they are extremely competitive and that they can fight almost equally against the world champion Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. In yesterday's qualifying the real surprise was the second place by Kimi Raikkonen behind only Lewis Hamilton by 234 thousandths. The other Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel will start from third place, just over 50 thousandths of a second behind his team-mate. He closes the second row of the Monza GP 2015 Nico Rosberg, once again in difficulty in confrontation with teammate Lewis Hamilton. The gap between the two in qualifying is just over 3 tenths. Lewis Hamilton recorded his seventh consecutive pole position in this F1 world championship and will have to defend himself above all from the onslaught of the aggressive Ferraris of Raikkonen and Vettel.

The Reds will have to undermine the reigning world champion Hamilton from the start and try to stay ahead of the Mercedes after the very delicate first variant of the straight. Aggressive driving is expected from the two Ferrari drivers who will have to attack in every braking section and defend themselves from the Mercedes on the long straights that characterize the Brianza circuit, one of the fastest in the World Championship, where it is easy to reach 350 km/h.

Going to look at starting grid of the Monza GP, behind the two Ferraris and the Mercedes we find the two Williams of Massa and Bottas in the third row, Perez in seventh place, the Lotus of Grosjean in eighth position, the other Force India of Hulkenberg in ninth position and the surprising Sauber in tenth position by Ericsson. Worth noting is the bad performance of the Red Bulls who will start from the last squares of the circuit as well as the McLarens of Button and Alonso.

Of the drivers competing today on the Italian circuit, only three can boast at least one success: the Spaniard Alonso, victorious in McLaren in 2005 and in Ferrari in 2010, Lewis Hamilton who won in 2012 with McLaren and last year with Mercedes and German Seb Vettel who won twice with Red Bull in 2011 and 2013. For today's race, Hamilton is the bookmakers' super favorite. Behind him Vettel, Rosberg and Raikkonen are all more or less equal but seen more than anything else as real outsiders, testifying to the possible dominance today in the race of the British world champion's Mercedes. Appointment on the Monza circuit for the Italian GP at 14 pm. The race will be broadcast live on both Sky and Rai TV.
