Italian exports take off, which in August - according to the latest Istat data - grew by 11,4% on an annual basis, with a leap of 11,8% for the EU area and 11% for the non-EU area .

The statistical institute reports, also compared to the previous month, an increase for both flows, larger for imports (+4,4%) than for exports (+2,6%). The trade surplus reached 2,5 billion (+1,9 billion in August 2015). During the year, imports grew by 9,4%. Motor vehicles are driving foreign sales, with an increase of 67,6%.

The growth of Italian exports recorded by Istat in August is the highest since October 2012 (+12,2%). In any case, the statistics institute explains, the balance for the first eight months of the year remains negative, with a contraction in foreign sales of 0,1% compared to the same period in 2015. Furthermore, August is an anomalous month characterized by small volumes traded. And the difference in working days also plays in favor of the record result.
