94,6 billion euros for exports from Italian districts in 2015, a double figure compared to 2009 which in percentage terms represents a growth of 13,6% compared to +2,7% in Germany.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Italian districts achieve surprising results, traveling at a speed four times higher than their German counterparts.

This is what emerges from the monitor of the industrial districts of Intesa Sanpaolo for 2015.

According to the report, “district exports increased overall by 13,6%” while “in the same period the progress of German district sectors did not go beyond +2,7%; that of Italian manufacturing stopped at +6,3%”.

In 2015, exports from our districts expanded by 4,2%, a percentage that is the sixth consecutive positive result in the last 6 years. Speaking in figures, it is 94,6 billion euros, more than double the lows of 2009.

Of the 147 districts monitored, 61 reached new all-time highs last year, while the trade surplus rose to 62,7 billion euros, about two-thirds of the entire Italian manufacturing surplus.

At the sector level, the data of the areas specialized in construction products and materials (+7,8% in 2015), agri-food (+7,3%), furniture (+6%) and mechanics (4,2%) were excellent %). Geographically, Triveneto and Southern Italy are the most dynamic districts of the country.

As far as outlet markets are concerned, district exports were driven by the United States, Spain and the United Kingdom. China also performed well, where last year growth of 5,7% was recorded against a contraction of 0,9% in manufacturing.
