Expo 2030 Rome: a great opportunity. That's why Unindustria launched the idea first

The idea of nominating Rome to host Expo 2030 came from Unindustria Lazio which considers it as an unrepeatable opportunity to relaunch the capital and the whole country

Expo 2030 Rome: a great opportunity. That's why Unindustria launched the idea first

Unindustria has always maintained that the theme of sustainable transformation of large cities was a great opportunity for Rome to relaunch itself on the international scene and with a renewed leading role for the country. For this reason, in 2020, President Angelo Camilli, in his inaugural speech at the helm of Unindustria, launched the idea of nominating the city to host the Expo. The Municipality of Rome, with the former Mayor Virginia Raggi, immediately showed great interest, accepting our proposal and making it a project also shared by the other candidates for the office of Mayor in the last administrative elections. From there, a path was born that led the Prime Minister Mario Draghi, at the end of September 2021, to officially nominate Rome to organize theUniversal Exhibition of 2030.

The challenge of Expo 2030 Rome

The spirit of the idea first launched by Unindustria, then taken up by the Capitoline administration and the Government, was that of opening a season of transformation of the city by setting itself an ambitious goal and a clear objective. Hosting a Universal Exposition on the new meaning of cities, in our opinion, represents a way of catalyzing international attention on our capital, but also of imposing responsibility on Rome for a challenge that concerns itself and its role of guide and example for the whole country.

During the last Board of Directors of Unindustria, we met Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, head of the organizing committee of the Expo. With him, we have agreed on the creation of a foundation open to all the productive forces of the city, which will support the institutions to launch projects and relaunch Rome's candidacy in all countries adhering to the Bie. It will certainly be necessary to improve the story of the city, starting with the promotion of the Rome brand in terms of tourism. The Expo represents a great opportunity and an important opportunity to seize, a challenge that can only be won through broad sharing of the project by all the institutional, entrepreneurial and social components of the city.

Unindustria in Dubai to support Rome's candidacy

Because of our role as promoters, in the first days of March, we left for Dubai for Expo 2020, with a delegation led first by Giampaolo Letta, President of Unindustria's Technical Group for Tourism, Culture and Major Events, to support the Rome's official candidacy to host Expo 2030, together with the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. In the following days, the President of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti and our President Angelo Camilli once again re-launched the importance of Rome's candidacy.

Our City has all the credentials to face this challenge and definitively overturn the image of a Capital that has been hostage to its limits for too long, when instead it has all the potential to go back to being a historical and civil cultural reference for all the world.
