Expo 2020 Dubai: Covid-19 does not stop the works of the Italian Pavilion

Despite the global crisis from Covid-19, the preparations of the Italian Pavilion for the next Expo 2020 Dubai continue – In line with the time schedule and the safety measures necessary to contain the spread of the virus

Expo 2020 Dubai: Covid-19 does not stop the works of the Italian Pavilion

The march towards Expo 2020 continues unabated. If on the one hand the Coronavirus pandemic has blocked numerous activities in our country, on the other did not interrupt the construction of the Italy Pavilion for the next Expo 2020 Dubai

The great commitment can also be seen in the delivery of materials, despite the limitations introduced on air traffic for the United Arab Emirates. Another testimony to the strength of the Italian production system, albeit in the presence of the current health emergency.

In the meantime, Invitalia has published the tender procedure for event organization and production services, engagement of artists and testimonials, reception of the public in the Pavilion and, finally, management of operational activities. The deadline for submitting bids is April 15, 2020.

The work continues, however, in compliance with the necessary safety measures to manage the spread of the virus and protect all those involved: from setting up facilities for hand cleaning to setting up isolation stations for suspected cases, up to measuring the workers' temperatures every morning. Furthermore, an attempt is made to limit the number of people involved in enclosed spaces.

But where are the works? The processing stages are well advanced and divided into the months leading up to the opening of the universal exposition on 20 October. The phase relating to the construction of the foundations has just been completed and the first steel structures are starting to appear, the completion of which is expected by April, and which will reach a height of 27 meters from the final structure and will enhance its verticality.

The month of May will be dedicated to the construction of the roof, the largest tricolor flag ever built in the history of our country. In June, on the other hand, the facade of the Pavilion will be installed, which will complete the external shell of the structure, made up entirely of reused plastic nautical ropes, already being produced in Italy.

July will be the month in which the first phase of construction will end, dedicated to the internal finishes made of organic and innovative materials that will prepare the Pavilion for the final run of the exhibition phase.

Expo 2020 Dubai: work on the Italian Pavilion continues A war against an enemy that knows no limits or deadlines. For this reason the expo represents a great opportunity to rebuild a winning image of our country, but above all to relaunch Made in Italy all over the world.
