Expo 2015: nine thousand jobs in the logistics and transport sector

Nine thousand new jobs, of which six thousand in Lombardy alone and 1,8 billion of additional production, of which 1,2 billion in Lombardy. In numerical terms, these are the effects that Expo 2015 will have on the logistics and transport sector which in Lombardy alone is worth around 12 billion euros, almost a third of the Italian market.

This is what emerges from the investigations by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan presented today at a conference on logistics promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, by The International Propeller Club-Port of Milan and by the Port Authority of Genoa. Most of the opportunities, according to what emerges from the survey, will be after the event (1,1 billion of additional production and 5.300 work units).

In 2015, 523 million of additional production and 2.500 work units are expected. Before Expo, on the other hand, the impact was 213 million of additional production and a thousand work units. “The logistics sector – declared Claudio De Albertis, member of the council of the Milan Chamber of Commerce – is central to Milan and Lombardy, the economic and productive hub of the country. In particular, it can have a significant development with Expo, with important turnover and job opportunities that can be created in the sector to the benefit of the local economy”.
