Exhibitions to see on Easter Monday: Hidden Biodiversity at the Botanical Garden Museum in Rome

Il Botanical Garden Museum of Rome, inaugurated the first appointment of the project Hidden Biodiversity, promoted and funded by Sapienza University of Rome as part of the Third Mission 2023 Call, curated by Pierfilippo Cerretti, in collaboration with researchers Noemi Spagnoletti and Aleida Ascenzi, researcher Dario Nania, together with curator Maurizio Mei and curator Caterina Giovinazzo. At the heart of the project and the exhibition are 8 3D resin models of four insects: the fly (Sarcophaga carnaria), the bee (Osmia cornuta), the beetle (Oryctes nasicornis) and the mosquito (Anopheles): each model, obtained from X-ray scans of the larval and adult stages, will provide ideas for telling hidden and mysterious stories, suggesting to the public a new look at the complexity of natural systems and transforming the current perception that we all have of insects, often seen as annoying or harmful.

Show route with 3D models

Hidden Biodiversity aims, in fact, to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of biodiversity, actively involving citizens, teachers, students of primary and secondary schools, university students of scientific and humanistic disciplines: taking inspiration from the extraordinary multitude of insects that populate the planet and highlighting their fundamental role in the ecosystem and their impact on every human activity, the project aims to contribute to changing the perspective on how to relate to organisms that in fact have a bad reputation but are key to our well-being. The exhibition at the Botanical Garden Museum is structured through an exhibition-path with 3D models of adults and larvae

Until May 11, 2025 Opening hours: every day from 9.00 to 18.30
