Tax evasion, revenue boom in January: +58%

Tax revenues deriving from the fight against tax evasion increased by 58% on an annual basis in January and by 5,3% in the whole of 2014 – In last year's total, VAT revenues and total tax revenues grew, while they decreased direct taxes.

This was announced by the Ministry of the Economy according to which in January, in fact, the assessment and control activities yielded 727 million euros to the tax authorities, an increase of 58% compared to January 2014. During the whole of 2014 , on the other hand, the fight against tax evasion has increased revenue by 5,3% on an annual basis.

Also growing in 2014 was the VAT revenue which recorded an annual increase of 1,9%, or 2.189 million euros. 
In particular, VAT on domestic trade is growing (+2,2%;?+2.195 million euros), above all as a result of the 1 percentage point increase in the ordinary rate from 21 to 22% since 1 October last.

The complex of tax revenues, on the other hand, recorded a more contained increase, in the order of 0,2%. Net of IRES, the revenue amounted to 411.694 million euros, an increase of 1.003 million compared to 2013. Overall, however, the tax revenues, ascertained on the basis of the juridical accrual criterion, amounted to 418.947 million euros, compared to 424.633 million euros in 2013.

Finally, a slight downward variation for the direct taxes, whose total revenue is equal to 217.376 million euros, with a change of 0,6% (-1.313 million euros).
