Eurozone, trade balance returns to surplus: 2,8 billion surplus

According to the first Eurostat estimate, trade between the Eurozone and other countries returns to a positive balance - In February, the surplus amounted to 2,8 billion, against a deficit of 7,9 billion the previous month – The trade deficit of the entire EU is decreasing.

It marks a clear improvement, in February, the trade balance of the Eurozone vis-à-vis the rest of the world, registering, according to the first Eurostat estimate, a surplus of 2,8 billion euros, against a deficit of 2,8 billion in the same month of 2011 and 7,9 billion in January 2012. Again according to the Eurostat report, both exports and imports grew by 2,4% and 3,5% respectively.

On the other hand, the trade balance recorded by the entire EU remains negative, again in February, against the other countries, with the deficit standing at the current level -9,4 billion euros. A negative datum which, however, is an improvement compared to the -10,5 billion of February 2011 and the -23,5 billion of January 2012. Also in this case, both exports increased on a monthly basis (+3,2%) than imports (+1,3%).
