The slowdown in private sector activity in the euro area worsens. The flash estimates on the manufacturing PMI for June developed by Markit are attested to 44,8 points, slightly below expectations (44,9). This is the lowest level since June 2009, further and further away from the fateful "threshold 50", which marks the border between expansion and contraction. 

June is the fifth consecutive month in which manufacturing activity in the 17 EU countries has contracted. The PMI in the services sector in June it rose to 46,8 (expected at 46,4), after the 46,7 points recorded in May. The composite PMI in June it was 46,0 (expected at 45,5), also in this case the lowest since June 2009.

As for individual countries, a new decline in theGerman PMI manufacturing index, which remains at a three-year low. According to Reuters, according to Reuters, the preliminary reading of the index calculated by Markit on the basis of indications from purchasing managers fell in June, from 44,7 in May. The forecast – writes Bloomberg – was for a confirmation of the value of 45,2. The composite index fell to 45,2 from 48,5 in May.

In France on the other hand, the PMI index of services rose to 47,3 points in June, from 45,1 points in the previous month, well beyond the forecasts of insiders, who expected an index of 45,1 points.
