La industrial production in the eurozone records a worse than expected collapse in September. According to Eurostat, the figure fell by Present in several = 2,5% compared to August, canceling the progress recorded in the two summer months. On average, analysts had expected a contraction of 1,7%. On an annual basis, the decline is 2,3%.
However, Eurostat underlined that production improved by 0,1% in the third quarter, despite the bad performance in September.
The production of the energy recorded a decline of 1,8% on a monthly basis, that of non-durable goods of 2,8%, the likes of which had not happened since January 2000, when the historical series began.
The production of auto in France and Germany it decreased by 2,7% and 2,1% respectively. It should be noted that industrial production in Portugal recorded a drop of 12%, the most serious since 2000, when the historical series began. In Ireland, production also fell by 12,6%.
In EU 27 the contraction in industrial production decreased by 2,3% on a monthly basis and by 2,7% on an annual basis.
