Very slight growth in employment in the Eurozone. Indeed, in the fourth quarter, employment in the currency union increased by 0,1% compared to the third, the same trend also observed in the entire European Union. This is confirmed by Eurostat data, according to which, in an annual comparison, employment decreased by 0,5% in the Eurozone and by 0,1% in the EU.
Less auspicious, however, are the signals coming from Italy, where the fourth quarter figure recorded a decrease of 0,5% compared to the previous quarter and of 2% on an annual basis.
Looking at the whole of 2013, employment in the Eurozone decreased by 0,9%, in the EU by 0,4%. In 2012 it had decreased by 0,7% and 0,2% respectively.
