i go back down producer prices of the industry inEurozone. According to data released today by Eurostat, in June prices fell by 0,1% compared to May and of 2,2% on an annual basis, against the -2% per year recorded the previous month.

The energy item above all weighed on the drop in prices: -0,2% on month and -7% on year, even if all groupings showed weak dynamics.

The new decline in prices could also lead to new downward pressure on inflation in the euro area, already considered dangerously weak by the ECB, whose objective is an average consumer price inflation below but close to 2 per cent.

In June, however, inflation recorded a drop to 0,2%. To combat the risks of too low inflation, or even deflation, the central bank has implemented a substantial quantitative easing maneuver.
