Industrial production in the euro area saw growth of 0,1% in May compared to April and 4% on an annual basis. This was communicated by the Institute of Statistics of the European Union (Eurostat).
However, the increase was lower than expectations which estimated an increase of 0,5% on a monthly basis and 4,8% on an annual basis.
The Europe of the 27, on the other hand, grew by 0,4% in May compared to +0,2% in the previous month. On an annual basis, the figure is stable at 4%, as in April.
Eurozone: industry grows by 0,1%, but less than expected
In May, industrial production recorded a lower-than-expected increase. The European Union performed better: for the 27, the increase was 0,4% compared to the previous month.
