Eurozone, inflation is still holding back: +0,7% in February

New slowdown for inflation in Europe, which is moving further and further away from the 2% target set by the ECB - In the Eurozone, the figure marked an increase of 0,7% on an annual basis, after +0,8% of January – Inflation in the EU as a whole is up by 0,8%.

Slow down again inflation in Europe. According to Eurostat data, in February the increase recorded in theEurozone it was equal to 0,7% on an annual basis, against +0,8% in January and +1,8% in February 2013. The new decline further takes inflation further away from the 2% target set by the ECB.

In 'European Union of 28 states, however, inflation grew by 0,8% (+0,9% in the previous month, +2% in the same month last year). In Italy the February figure recorded an even lower growth than that of the currency area, just +0,4%.

In the calculation, we note the increases in the prices of tobacco, restaurants and electricity, offset downwards by the decline in transport fuels, telecommunications and liquid fuels. The core data on consumer prices - which excludes alcohol and tobacco products - marks a +0,5% month-on-month and a +1% trend.
