In February Eurozone unemployment hits a record 12%, with more than 19 million people out of work. Eurostat made it, underlining that the figure remained unchanged compared to January (the reading of which was revised upwards from the previous 11,9%).

In the whole XNUMX-XNUMX business days the unemployment rate instead rose by 0,1%, to 10,9%, for a total of 26,34 million unemployed. On an annual basis, the increase was equal to 1,78 million in the Eurozone and 1,81 million in the European Union.

La ranking of countries with the highest unemployment rate it is led by Spain (26,3%) and Portugal (17,5%), while the figure for Greece, equal to 26,4%, is updated only in December. The lowest levels are in Austria (4,8%) and Germany (5,4%).

Also in February, among young people under the age of 25 unemployment reached 23,9% of the workforce in the Eurozone and 23,5% in the EU. In Spain, youth unemployment is 55,7%, followed by Portugal (38,2%) and Italy (37,8%).
