Eurozone: consumption recovering in November (+1,4%), stable unemployment (12,1%)

After two months of contraction, retail trade sales climbed 1,4% in November, the largest monthly increase since November 2011 – Eurozone unemployment rate stabilized at 12,1. 12,2%, the same level as in October, which followed the record of XNUMX% reached in September.

Leap forward in consumption, stable unemployment. These are the latest data on theEurozone, which suggest timid signs of economic recovery. 

According to what was communicated this morning by Eurostat, in November, after two months of contraction, retail trade sales they recorded an increase of 1,4%. This is the largest monthly increase since November 2011. The figure clearly exceeds the forecasts of analysts, who on average estimated an increase limited to 0,2%.

In September, sales had recorded a -0,6%, followed by -0,4% in October. In comparison on an annual basis, in November the volumes realized by the retail trade of the currency union increased by 1,6 per cent.

As for the world of work, always in November the unemployment rate of Euroland stabilized at 12,1%, the same level as in October, which followed the record of 12,2% reached in September. The Community statistics office counted 19 million 241 thousand unemployed in the currency union, 4 thousand more than in the previous month and 452 thousand more in the comparison on an annual basis.
