Bad blow for the industry in the euro area which in September recorded a decrease of 2% compared to August data. This was communicated by Eurostat, the European statistical institute, adding that if instead we consider the Europe of 27, the drop is only 1,3%. This decline is in line with analysts' expectations and follows two months of expansion. On a trend basis, industrial production decreased by 2,2% both in the euro area and throughout the European Union.
The largest decline was recorded inEstonia, with a 10,9% decrease. They follow the Portugal (-5,8%) and theItaly (-4,8%). However, industrial production also decreased in Germany (-2,9%) and France (-1,9%). Positive numbers instead for Slovakia (+ 3,2%), Poland e Sweden (+1,9% both) e Slovenia (+ 1,5%).
