Industrial production falls in the Eurozone. According to data released by Eurostat, in August the data in the currency union showed a decrease of 1,8% compared to July and of 1,9% on an annual basis. Broadening the discussion to the entire EU, the decrease was respectively 1,4% and 0,7%. Italy limits the damage, which records a growth of 0,3% on a monthly basis, but a decrease of 0,7% on an annual basis.

Compared to July in the Eurozone, the drop in the production of capital goods stands out (-4,8%), not offset by the growth in energy production, +1,2%. On an annual basis, the most consistent decline is still that of capital goods (-3,7%), followed by energy (-3,5%). The production of non-durable consumer goods grew by 1,4%.
