Eurozone, ECB: rates unchanged at 0,75%

Expectations are growing for the announcement of possible new extraordinary anti-crisis measures, in particular the anti-spread shield – The Btp-Bund differential is still below 400 points, at its lowest since May.

I euro area interest rates remain at a record low of 0,75%. This was established today by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, at the end of the meeting at the beginning of the month.

However, market expectations focus on announcing possible ones new extraordinary anti-crisis measures. In particular, the so-called anti-srpead shield, which will allow the Eurotower to buy sovereign bonds on the secondary market.

Press rumors have been circulated in recent days which have further fueled the optimism of an incoming energetic maneuver. In particular, investors expect that the ECB launches a government bond purchase plan with a maturity of up to 3 years.

Already a month ago, the signals and announcements of the ECB had blocked the spikes in the differentials of Spain and Italy. Today the spread Btp-Bund is back below 400 basis points, down to a minimum of 378, the lowest level since the beginning of May.
