Eurozone: industrial orders drop in July, data worse than expected

Slowdown for industrial orders in the Eurozone. According to data collected by Eurostat, in July the index shows a drop of 2,1% on the previous month, while on an annual basis it maintains a positive trend with +8,4%. The figures are worse than analysts' expectations, who had forecast a 1,1% economic downturn and a +10,6% trend increase. A major impact on this decrease was the contraction in the sector of components for heavy transport vehicles. Net of this item, in fact, orders would have recorded an increase of +1,4%.

Eurostat has also revised the data for June, which now show a decrease of 1,2% (the preliminary indicated -0,7%) on a monthly level and an increase of 10,6% on an annual scale (the previous figure showed +11,1%).
