Eurostat: Employment in the Eurozone falls by 0,2% in the first quarter

Eurostat data report the decline, in the first quarter of 2012, in the number of employed people in the Eurozone, down by 0,2%, while in the EU of 27 the share remains stable at 222,9 million – On an annual basis, the the decline is respectively 0,5% and 0,1% – The most affected sector is the construction sector, -1,3%.

Eurostat: Employment in the Eurozone falls by 0,2% in the first quarter

In first quarter 2012 there is a decline in employment in Europe, according to Eurostat data which, compared to the previous quarter, show a 0,2% drop in employment in the Eurozone, which thus reach 146,1 million, while, considering the EU of 27 countries, the number remains stable at 222,9 million.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, however the decline was respectively 0,5% and 0,1%. Looking at the Eurozone alone, there is an increase in workers in the information (+1%) and communication (+1,3%) sectors, while the the most consistent decline was recorded in the construction sector (-1,3%).
