Sharp decline in April for the European industrial production. Eurostat data indicate a decrease of 0,8% for the eurozone and 0,4% for the Union of 27 countries. More contained drops were recorded in March, -0,1% and -0,2% respectively. The decline mainly concerned the capital goods sector, while energy production increased.
In Italy, industrial production fell by 1,9%, in Germany by 2% and in Portugal by 6,5%. France goes against the trend (+1,5%). On an annual basis, the figure fell by 2,3% in the Eurozone and by 1,7% in the EU (Italy -9,2%).
