Eurostat: business confidence in the eurozone is down, sunk by Germany. Well Italy instead

In July, the business and consumer confidence index of the eurozone reached its lowest level in the last three years, leading to fears of a worsening of the recession. The data, published by Eurostat, signal the index to 87,9 points, two less than the previous month, and for the fourth consecutive time downwards in the last four months.

In the Europe of 27 the deterioration is attenuated (-1,4 points) to 89 points. For the eurozone it is yet another sign of great distrust, given that the same analysts were expecting a decline but limited to 88,9 points. In particular, the crisis of industry (-2-2 points) and that of consumers (-1,7) contributed to the collapse. Only the retail trade (-0,6 points) and the construction sector were saved, losing only 0,3.

Among individual countries, the most significant deterioration comes from Germany (-3,7 points) and France (-2,3), while Spain is contained at -1,4 and Italy even records a positive trend: +1,3 points.
