Eurostat: industrial production collapses in Italy (-5% per year), the worst figure after Finland

While the eurozone records an average recovery on a monthly basis (+0,2%), according to the continental statistical institute, Italy has the worst drop after that of Finland: -2,5% from December to January, - 5% on an annual basis.

According to Eurostat data, industrial production collapses in Italy in January, falling on a monthly basis by -2,5% compared to December 2011. Among European countries, the Italian drop is the second worst of all, better only than that of Finland which recorded a -5,1%

In the eurozone, however, as well as in the EU27, industrial production rose by 0,2% on a monthly basis. On an annual basis it lost 1,2 percentage points in the euro area, one point in the EU, and 5 points in Italy.
