Eurogroup: no to bridging loan to Greece

Euro-area countries won't grant Greece a bridging loan to keep it afloat as Prime Minister Tsipras' government attempts to renegotiate the terms of a new financial deal with the EU. This was stated by the president of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem. “We don't do bridging loans,” Dijsselbloem said, according to Bloomberg reports.

The position on a very delicate point such as that of the "bridge loan" is clarified hour after hour, in view of the Eurogroup meeting set for 11 February and dedicated to the Greek crisis. Meanwhile, on the front of the debts already contracted, the International Monetary Fund lets it be known that it could refinance its loan to Greece, but only under certain conditions. To say it is the executive director of the IMF Carlo Cottarelli, who explains that "there are margins for a rollover, but a new program is needed". Cottarelli also explained that it is premature to talk about an exit from the IMF troika, which "has expressed its willingness to talk to Athens".
