No decisions on Greece expected todayEurogroup. It was even announced that the final press conference should not be held before 19 pm. After the rejection - yesterday - of the plan of Athens on the part of the Eurogroup, no particular developments are therefore expected today, except for a situation that is worsening day by day for Greece, despite the start of the qualitative leap of the ECB's Quantitative easing.
Le seven economic reforms prepared by Athens are therefore not enough to release part of the last tranche of 7,2 billion of the loan because there are no assessments of the economic impact of the measures, on the way in which they will be made operational, nor timetable indications. The discontent on the creditors' front is palpable, the tension is high, the tug of war continues. The Eurogroup sends a precise message to Athens: just waste timereal negotiations on the details of the measures must be started.
Meanwhile, the president of the Eurogroup also spoke, Jeroen Dijsselbloem: “Compared to the last Eurogroup meeting, Athens did little. We are ready to support Greece, provided there is progress in implementing the programme”. “Our policy – reiterated German Chancellor Angela Merkel from Japan – is for Greece to remain in the Eurozone. We have worked for this for many years but of course there are two sides of the same coin: one is solidarity and the other is the determination to push for reforms; if this is the way, there is still a long way to go”.
