Euro, exchange rate with the dollar at the lowest since July 2013

The single European currency is trading at 1,2778 dollars after hitting a low of 1,2774 – The greenback also rose to its six-month high against the Canadian dollar.

The dollar strengthens after the brilliant data on new home sales in the United States in August and pushes the euro to its lowest level since July 2013. The single currency is trading at 1,2778 dollars after hitting a low of 1,2774. The greenback also climbed to a six-month high against the Canadian dollar.

In addition to the strength of the dollar, weighing on the single European currency are the weak economic prospects of the Eurozone, with the German Ifo index which this morning fell for the fifth consecutive time, reaching its lowest level since April 2013.
