Euro 2016: the final will be France-Portugal

It will be hosts France to challenge Portugal on Sunday evening in Paris in the final of these 2016 European Championships. The blues took the pass for the last act of the tournament by overcoming Germany in the semifinals on Thursday, beaten 2-0 with a brace from Griezmann . The Atletico striker thus reached 6 goals, becoming the tournament's top scorer. The absence of the injured Mario Gomez at the center of the attack weighed above all on Germany, which also created a lot.

The start of the hosts is vehement and in the first 10 minutes a lot of aggressiveness sends the Germans into crisis. Neuer is ready to fend off Griezmann's close-range finish, after an exchange with Matuidi. Loew shakes him off the bench and in the 14th minute Lloris also warms up his gloves deflecting Emre Can's left foot. Germany shakes, gains the field and Lloris raises a poisonous shot from Schweinsteiger onto the crossbar.

But the final minutes of the half are still French. In the 41st minute a mistake by Boateng launches Giroud into the net, but the miraculous recovery by Hoewedes defuses the danger. In recovery Schweinsteiger hits the ball from his hand in an aerial tackle with Evra. For Rizzoli it's a penalty and Griezmann doesn't miss from the penalty spot.

After 15 minutes of the second half Boateng gets hurt (muscle problem) and Mustafi comes on. Germany has lost dynamism and Loew tries to give it back by removing Can for Goetze. But while the world champions try to build a reaction, the French 2-0 arrives. After Pogba's cross from the left, Neuer prevented Giroud's header, but the ball landed in Griezmann, who was quick to touch it into the net and pass it between the legs of the German goalkeeper. It seems the coup de grace, but after conceding the second goal Germany becomes more dangerous.

Kimmich, a midfielder loaned to the defence, hit the outside post of the goal defended by Lloris, who in added time showed off an amazing save, on a header by Kimmich himself. But the result doesn't change. The French thus broke the spell and debunked the Germany taboo: they hadn't beaten the Germans in an official match since 1958.
