Estate Romana 2015 – Calendar of events from 17 to 23 July

An extraordinary offer of music, cinema, street art and theater awaits tourists and Romans in this new week of Estate Romana 2015. Strengthened by the success achieved in past editions, the Arenas of Rome mark a welcome return, an opportunity to enjoy the open air of the films of the last Italian and international cinematographic season.

The Roman Summer 2015 is full of interesting events. Here is the calendar for the next few days.

 A further quality appointment when the Arenas turn on their screens is the billboard of New Cinema Aquila, which after a short maintenance work reopens its doors with free programming designed for families and children. Six appointments, spread over three days of the week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), starting from 18 July and continuing until the end of the month. 

The theater offer is rich and widespread throughout the area, bringing together world premieres, the ageless passion for Shakespeare and the scenic creativity of emerging young people. Here is a selection of the events scheduled for the coming week 17 from July to 23 accompanied by the complete daily calendar.

 

ART

The morning of the 19 July il Museum of the Walls invites you to a guided didactic itinerary aimed at reconstructing the history and appearance of the defensive structure set up by Aurelian in the XNUMXrd century. During the visit, which also includes the structures of the Porta S. Sebastiano and the recently reopened walkway, passages from The Greco-Gothic War, with descriptions of war machines and sieges. Il Museum of Rome in Trastevere offers an interesting selection of exhibits. It also reopens the New Cinema Aquila, which offers free programming within the CityFest, the great container of special events, entertainment and training of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma. DANCE

From 21 July the former Forte Ardeatino Park is the setting for the exhibition proposed by Disabled: but Skilled in Dance, which aims to enhance and represent the talent of artists penalized by a physical impairment with dance performances and different evenings. MULTIDISCIPLINARY

Lo Yap Fest of the MAXXI offers a large number of events with free admission in an effective dialogue between culture and entertainment. Speaking Gay VillageFridays stand out among the most interesting novelties of the new edition Kitsch & Show, organized in collaboration with Italian Kitchen Academy. Friday 17 July A good start… Antipasto en Travesti! irreverent and witty drag queens they will demonstrate their culinary skills in the evening dedicated to appetizers. On Thursday 23, however, Imma Battaglia and Vladimir Luxuria give life to a spectacular interview with the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò. In progress on Festival Cosa Sarà organized by Casale Caletto Cultural Center, in the Tiburtina – Tor Cervara area, which mixes visual arts, theatre, music and urban interventions. Theater show on stage We are the street idols by Emanuele Merlino (July 19, free admission).

 

La Pastificio Cerere Foundation, always committed to supporting youth creativity through training initiatives, promotion and research, Wednesday 22 July presents the second of four evenings dedicated to the interaction between art and music through the review My friends are more talented than me: in the premises of via degli Ausoni 7, San Lorenzo area, space for the live performance of Estasy, the DJ set of Rawmance and the video art projections of Lupo Borgonovo.

The seventh edition of The Travels of Art proposes a diversified calendar in genres: on the evening of 17 July opera concert with the soprano Marta Vulpi, on 19 July space for classical music, on 23 July it is the turn of street theatre.

 

Scheduled every evening Travels in ancient Rome, two stories and two itineraries curated by Piero Angela and Paco Lanciano in the Forum of Augustus and in the Forum of Caesar.

 

MUSIC

In a suggestive and enchanting setting, the Templet presents the review Roman nights at the Theater of Marcellus with a rich calendar of classical music concerts scheduled every evening at 20.30 and accompanied by readings of prose and poetry. All of this takes place within the Music Festival of Nations which, since 1989, has welcomed many artists from all over the world thanks to the collaboration and patronage of various Embassies and Cultural and Musical Institutions.

 

Summer in Santa Cecilia 2015 closes its review at the Auditorium Parco della Musica on Thursday 23 July with an evening dedicated to the violin of Uto Ughi. The concert artist will perform some of his workhorses (among others, the Romanza by Beethoven , Fantasy fabric of Sarasate laid down by the Carmen by Bizet) accompanied by the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and by George Pehlivanian, who will also conduct two Rossini overtures (William Tell e Barber of Seville) and will conclude the concert with the hypnotic melody of the most sensual of Ravel's ballets, the Boléro.

 

The review Rome Opera open Caracalla for its part in the evenings of 18 and 20 July proposes in reply the Turandot directed by Denis Krief and with Juraj Valcuha as conductor. The 23 July moreover the Costanzi Theatre home Golgotha, a creation by Bartabas and Andrés Marin directed by Eric Tartinville.

Quality programming also distinguishes the 2015 edition of Concerts in the Park.
Between 17 and 23 July, the splendid setting of Villa Doria Pamphilj hosts original productions, world premieres or Roman premieres, which go beyond genres with an eye to innovation and quality. Here then is the show by Ale and Franz Gaber, Jannacci…Noi (premiere in Rome, 17 July), Ode to Roman cuisine, multimedia performance by the Salento vj passionate about gastronomy Donpasta (18 July) and the performance of Latin Mood 2015, sextet founded by Fabrizio Bosso and Javier Girotto (only Roman date, July 19).

 

The historic review of Villa Ada ranges from rock to electronics, from jazz to folk, from reggae to hip hop Rome meets the world. Scheduled: Teho Teardo & Elio Germano (July 17), Otto Ohm (July 18), Serenade for Rome (July 19), C.mon Tigre + Public Service Broadcasting (July 20), The Notwist (July 21), Marta sui Tubi and Cristina Donà (July 22) and Bobo Rondelli + Dimartino (July 23). 

 

It never threatens to disappoint the programming of July Sounds Good (Parco della Musica Auditorium). Here is a double Mannarino (July 17 and 18), Stefano Bollani (July 19), Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals (July 20), Mark Knopfler and Band (July 21), Anastacia (July 22) and Fiorella Mannoia (July 23) . 

 

Finally, two highly anticipated groups take the stage of Rock in Rome, the international rock festival organized in the Ippodromo delle Capannelle: the British alternative rock of Muse (July 18) precedes the Italian Subsonica (July 20). 

 

STREET ART

Starting from Thursday 23 July and until Wednesday 29, as part of the event Oxygen 2015 – Popstairs, David "Diavù" Vecchiato, exponent of Roman Street Art and creator of MURo, Museum of Urban Art in Rome, will redevelop the Corso Francia stairway through a street art intervention aimed at making it a place of artistic and cultural interest.

 

Until 2 August, the Rovescio cultural association offers every Sunday urban summer, 5 special tours to get to know the urban arts of the capital. The expert guides of the association accompany curious and enthusiasts among the street art works of Garbatella, Ostiense and Testaccio. Appointment on July 19th at 17pm at the Garbatella Metro station.

 

THEATRE

In the splendid setting of the Acqua Paola Exhibition on the Gianicolo Hill in Rome, Fontanestate offers a rich program of titles that focuses on the presence of young emerging artists, on collaborations with important international bodies and organizations, on the multiplicity and alternation of the arts. They range from public reading Pasolini in Monteverde (July 19) at the concert of Great Choir of Rome (July 23), from the kermesse Norsk Art proposed by the artists of the Circolo Scandinavo in Rome (July 17) for theatrical performances The two Comedies in Comedy (July 20) directed by Massimiliano Cutrera e The Last Fool (July 21) by and with Sebastiano Bianco.

 

Double date with Summer Tales, the summer event curated by PAV now in its fifth edition and this year hosted by the courtyard of the Department of Oriental Studies of La Sapienza, the former Sani barracks. The concert is scheduled for Wednesday 22 July The Maghreb meets the Balkans edited by Rom Arab Beat; the show will be staged on Thursday 23 July Ziguli edited by the Compagnia Teatrodilina which tells the dense and bumpy relationship between a father and a disabled son.

 

Al Silvano Toti Globe Theater of Villa Borghese the magic of Shakespeare continues: on stage until 2 August the drama Re Lear, directed by Daniele Salvo. Starting from Monday 20 July and until 2 August, with Sonnets of love, a journey through the most beautiful verses of William Shakespeare, the theater offers a welcome novelty for lovers of the great English playwright, a late afternoon appointment (18.30 pm, on Monday 20 only the show starts at 21.15 pm) in which four characters will give voice and body to the most beautiful sonnets written by the Bard.

 

Friday 17 July on the stage of In the shadow of the Colosseum the comedy of Cinzia Leone and her latest show are on stage Disorient Express. Protagonists of the following dates Andrea Perroni (July 18), Dario Cassini (July 19), the Comic Ring Show (July 21), the jazz of Rosario Giuliani and Luciano Biondini (July 22) and Alessandro Di Carlo (July 23). 

 

The Garden of the International Women's House and the Odradek bookshop are the venues hosting the Festival this week Theater in Righe 2015. In the morning appointment at the library with the Breakfast Show, or when coffee meets performance, in the evening instead space for the theater in the garden of the association located in via della Lungara 19, the driving force behind women's culture and actions.
