Car sales still growing in Europe. Registrations, according to Acea, increased by 5,6% in July and by 2,1% in August, continuing the positive trend begun twelve months ago. And in the first eight months of the year there were requests for 8.336.159 new cars, an increase of 6% compared to the same period in 2013.

In July, explains Acea, France was the only one of the most important European markets to record a contraction (-4,3%). In the other major countries, growth was 5,5% in Italy, 6,6% in Great Britain, 6,8% in Germany and 11,1% in Spain. Overall, 1.041.683 new machines were registered in the European Union in July.

In August, on the other hand, there was a decrease in sales in France (-2,6%), Germany (-0,4% ) and Italy (-0,2%), while in the other major markets there is There was growth, with +13,7% in Spain and +9,4% in the United Kingdom. In total, there were 688.464 registrations in the EU during the month.

As far as Fiat is concerned, it was a positive July for car registrations in the European Union, followed however by a contracting August. In July, communicates the Acea, the Fiat group sold 63.023 cars, with an increase of 3,1% compared to the same month in 2013, while in August it reached 33.814, with a decrease of 2,8%. And in the first eight months of the year, 508.418 cars were registered, with a growth of 2,2%.

On the other hand, the trend of the market share was negative. In July, according to European manufacturers, Fiat's share fell to 6,1%, from 6,2% in the same month last year. In August it decreased to 5,1%, from 5,3% a year earlier, while in the first eight months of 2013 it decreased to 6,1%, from 6,3% in the same period last year.
